Deputies Respond To Domestic Assault
On the way to the scene, deputies located the victim running on Hwy. VV. While the victim was interviewed, the suspect was seen in a vehicle just north of the location. Deputies pursued the suspect, and as he fled, he threw a small black duffel bag out the window of the vehicle.
After affecting a felony stop of the vehicle, deputies took the driver into custody. They also recovered the discarded bag, which contained two loaded handguns.
The suspect, 66-year-old Wayman L. Johnson, of Columbia was taken to the Boone County Jail and booked on the following charges: unlawful use of a weapon, illegal possession of a concealable firearm, resisting arrest, and third degree domestic Assault. Johnson's bail was set at $20,000 cash.
The Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
