COLUMBIA - Former MU athlete Derrick Washington was released from jail on Friday afternoon. He tweeted from his personal account, @WashMeDoIt, "Fresh Out!". He also posted a photo of himself after being released.
In November, a judge sentenced the former Missouri running back and co-captain to five years in prison. His release comes after a 120-day "shock incarceration" program for first-time offenders.
On September 21, a Boone County jury found Washington guilty of deviate sexual assault-- a class C felony. The victim is an MU grad and former athletic department tutor, who said she was sleeping in her Campus View apartment when she woke up to Washington sexually assaulting her. Washington did not testify in his defense.
Last month, Washington also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault against an ex-girlfriend. That 90-day sentence ran concurrently with the felony sentence.
