Disability Week Begins
COLUMBIA - Today kicked off celebrations for Disability Pride Week which runs through Sunday, Aug. 1.
Saturday's parade and barbecue got people excited for a week full of events.
The week commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Despite the heat, participants and organizers felt passionate about the cause and the activities.
"So we decided to start out week long series of events with an energizing parade even though it's really hot," Organizer Scout Perry said. "We're hoping that we'll add energy to this almost two weeks."
Upcoming events for the week include panel discussions, lunches, and wheelchair basketball.
