Division of Energy Meets to Forecast Missouri's Future
COLUMBIA - The Missouri Division of Energy met Monday for the fourth of four meetings about Missouri's energy future, and the division's part in that future.
Previous meetings over the past three weeks in Rolla, St. Louis, and Kansas City focused on specific subjects: energy efficiency, traditional energy sources, and renewable/emerging energy sources respectively.
Division director Llona Weiss said this final meeting was about summarizing the previous three gatherings while looking toward the future. "This will give us an opportunity to see where we are and where we are going."
Weiss said this was the first comprehensive planning meeting in the history of the division. Previous planning had been done on an individual committee basis.
Allan Dennis works for Kansas City Power and Light, and he looked forward to sharing his experiences with people from around the state. "I want to give our perspective from Kansas City and work with shareholders from around the state to better prepare Missouri for the energy challenges of the future."
Though the event was billed as an opportunity for public comment, no members of the public were present at the start of the meeting.
