Dog That Attacked 3 in Sikeston Killed
SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities in the southeast Missouri town of Sikeston say a dog that had already bitten three people was killed to keep it from attacking others.
The Sikeston Standard Democrat reports that the White Japanese Akita was killed Sunday. The dog was seized on June 13 after biting off the tip of its owner's index finger, and biting the shoulder of a friend of the owner. The animal was placed in a shelter, but escaped confinement on Sunday and attacked a worker.
Police say the shelter worker had severe bites on both hands and the tip of his left middle finger was bitten off. The dog was found in a field and was killed by a police officer
