COLUMBIA - Families attended Pull Tab Pandemonium Saturday to donate pull tabs in return for funds to the Ronald McDonald House.

Several different organizations like Safe Kids Columbia and Access Arts were at the festival providing information and entertainment to both kids and parents.

Kids were also able to enjoy free food, a bounce house and several interactive activities.

Rachel Ellersieck is the director of development for the Ronald McDonald House. She said another purpose for the event is to teach kids a lesson on giving for the future.

"It's teaching kids that they can get involved, that's why we wanted it to be a really fun atmosphere so that kids remember 'oh yeah, giving back is fun'," Ellersieck said.

One family at the festival donated more than 300 pounds of pull tabs that their town helped them to collect.

Taylor Carr, a Mexico, Mo. resident, got into a car accident in October 2013 that caused her to go into the ICU for a damaged spine and brain hemorrhages.

Her parents stayed at the Ronald McDonald House shortly after it opened while Taylor was recovering.

Carr said she wants to help the house that helped her family.

"I want to help the families that stayed here. My mom and dad actually stayed here once." said Carr.

Ellersieck said the event was the first Pull Tab Pandemonium for this Ronald McDonald house, but she said she hopes to make it an annual event.
