COLUMBIA - Columbia businesses and restaurants now have the option of moving to family-assisted, gender-neutral restrooms. The change would allow single-stall restrooms to be identified as family and accessible instead of male or female.
Human Services Manager Steve Hollis said this is to help create a more diverse environment in the city.
"The goal is just to inform the community that it is an option and what the benefits are for their customers and consumers to adopting family-assisted bathrooms where possible," said Hollis.
There is also a $500 dollar contract that will be used for educational efforts about the new restroom options.
