BOONVILLE - From students to people from the community, everyone lined up today to take a ride. It's all for the "Drive for Your School" event.

"What Ford has done, along with Rick Ball Ford in Boonville, is teamed up to provide an opportunity for these young people to strive to reach their goals and make some extra money for their schools," said Bill Shelton. "We all know they need it."

This year the school has had a harder time raising money for student-run events like homecoming. That's one of the reasons they took on an innovative approach.

Dave Buddemeyer said the dealership will donate $20 for every test drive.

"We give up to $6,000 for the schools and they can distribute it anyway that they want," Buddemeyer said.

Students already have plans for the money Ford and their community are helping to raise.

"They talked about maybe wanting to get TV's for the commons and doing the other different activities for the school," said Boonville High School student Lauren Duncan.

According to Shelton, the money could fund the school's homecoming events.

But it was also a chance for students to have some fun in the driver's seat. People got to test drive many new car models.

After an afternoon of cruising, the students raised $3,220. There was a grand total of 161 drivers participating throughout the day.
