COLUMBIA - As snow accumulated Monday in mid Missouri, drivers reacted and provided driving tips for each other.

MU student Oliver Fisher said he thinks most wrecks were cause by drivers' failure to realize the roads were slick.

"People need to slow down and leave plenty of space between cars," Fisher said.

Another MU student agreed. "You've just got to tak it slow-make sure you leave with enough time," said Dusty Unger.

MoDOT's website offers tips on how to drive safetly during winter conditions. Some tips include always buckling up, leave double the amount of room between the car in front of you, watch out for other vehicles having problems, and keep your fuel tank at least half full.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said there were around 25 non-injury and injury accidents between noon and 2:00 p.m. in the mid-Missouri area.
