Drunk Driving Motivational Speaker Comes to William Woods University
FULTON - Marcus Engel, a Missouri native, spoke to hundreds of students at William Woods University Monday regarding the drunk driving accident that changed his life.
Engel was a freshman when the accident happened. He was sitting shotgun with his friend from Missouri State University when a drunk driver struck their vehicle causing it to barrel roll and flip leaving Engel lying face down on the pavement.
Engel spoke about his feelings when he found out he was blind and added humor to appeal to college students. He spoke about the moment he was lying in the street and thought he was going to die and about how he believes shock is a gift because your brain blocks out what it cannot handle. But the point of his speech was to emphasize good decision making and drunk driving prevention.
The Delta Gamma sorority at William Woods University hosted this event in line with its philanthropy Service for Sight
