Early Morning Accident Sends Motorcyclist to Hospital
The accident took place around 8 A.M. at the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Burlington Street. The motorcycle was westbound on Vandiver Drive while the bus was southbound on Burlington Street. The driver motorcyclist tried to avoid the accident by going into the turn lane but went on his side and collided with the bus.
Firefighters found 34-year-old Michael Heaston on the ground when they arrived.
Heaston was wearing his helmet when the accident occured and sent to University Hospital as a trauma alert. Heaston is still in critical condition.
No one was on the bus at the time of the accident and only had damage on the left side of the vehicle. The driver, Archie Smith, was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt.
