Edwards Prepares for Longest Race of the Year
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Carl Edwards enters the Coca-Cola 600 10th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings. In 11 starts this season, Edwards has accumulated two top-five and seven top-10 finishes, and one pole.
Carl will make his 15th Cup start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. In his previous starts, Edwards has five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. His average start is 17.5, and his average finish is 12.6. Edwards has completed 98.9% of laps attempted at CMS. Of the 4919 laps Edwards has completed, he has led 98 of them.
According to NASCAR's Loop Statistics compiled over the last 14 races at CMS, Edwards has turned 105 of the track's fastest laps, spent 2778 laps in the top 15 and led a total of 98 laps. Edwards' driver rating is seventh best among active drivers.The Fastenal Blue Team will be bringing chassis RK-811 to CMS. This car was new at Texas in April where Edwards finished eighth.
All three RFR Cup entries will be sponsored by Fastenal this weekend. Fastenal sponsored all three Nationwide Fords at Charlotte last May also and finished first (Kenseth), second (Edwards) and fourth (Stenhouse Jr.).
Qualifying for the Coca-Cola 600 begins at 6:00 PM, Thursday on SPEED. Coverage of the Coca-Cola 600 is scheduled for Sunday on FOX at 4:30 P.M.
