CONCORD, NC - Although Carl Edwards did not get the finish he wanted in New Hampshire last weekend, it was good enough to put him back in first place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings. He now leads by seven points over second place.

"Regaining the point lead is pretty big," Edwards said. "There is a lot of pride in that. The second half of the season for us is about getting wins. It is about going out here and being aggressive and getting those bonus points going into the Chase and having a little bit of fun. We have worked really hard to get to this point in the season and be in the position we are in to have had the win there at Vegas, and to be where we are at in points, so now we are trying to go out there and get some more victories which is fun. That is the whole point of what we do. It is nice to not be looking backwards over our shoulders right now but to be looking forward. That is fun."

The Cup series is idle this weekend for the last time until the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 20. The off weekend will allow the No. 99 crew to take a breather before the final 17-race stretch. It will not be a weekend off for Edwards though, as he will compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville SuperSpeedway on Saturday. That race can be seen live on ESPN at 6:30pm CT.
