Eight Tigers Invited to NCAA Wrestling Championship
COLUMBIA - Eight Missouri Tigers wrestlers have been invited to the 2014 NCAA Championship on Thursday, March 20 in Oklahoma City.
Seven of the Missouri wrestlers were given automatic bids and red-shirt freshman, Matt Manley received an at-large bid for the tournament.
In the 149-pound class, Drake Houdashelt (junior) will come in to the tournament as the top-seed overall in his weight class. This will be Houdashelt's third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance with a 34-1 record on the season. Houdashelt was nominated for MAC Wrestler of the Week twice this season and claimed his third-straight conference title for Missouri.
Another notable Tiger heading to the big show is true freshman J'den Cox. Cox fought his way to a 33-2 record overall this season and won a MAC Championship title in the 197-pound class. He will head to Oklahoma City as the No. 2 seed in his weight class.
Other Tigers traveling down South will be: Zach Toal (165), Joey Lavallee (157), Matt Manley (133) Lavion Mayes (141), Devin Mellon (HWT), and Mikey England (174).
The first round match-ups for Missouri will be:

141- Lavion Mayes v. No. 2 Logan Stieber (Ohio State)
149- No. 1 Drake Houdashelt v. Alex Kocer (South Dakota State University)
157- Joey Lavallee v. Immanuel Kerr-Brown (Duke)
165- Zach Toal v. Pierce Harger (Northwestern)
174- Mikey England v. No. 2 Andrew Howe (Oklahoma)
197- No. 2 J'den Cox v. Mario Gonzales (Illinois)
HWT- Devin Mellon v. No. 9 Connor Medbery (Wisconsin)
