Eldon High's Century Mark
You could say Joann Jones has been preparing since she was a freshman at Eldon High School in 1954.
"This year we were asked if we would be the kick off weekend for the 100th celebration," Jones said.
"The first class started at the high school in 1907," said Leane McNay. "And, that class graduated in 1910 - they graduated three students."
With so many people back walking the halls they knew as teenagers, it's a history and a heritage McNay thinks is important to pass down to the students that currently walk those halls.
"We're going to really make an effort to talk with the students when they come in this year and make sure that they honor what's been done, and respect what's been done. Many of our students are 2nd and 3rd generation here," McNay said.
They hear a lot of history about the school district through the parents and grandparents.
That's what these people say the centennial celebration is really all about: Eldon High's future, it's present, and it's past.
