EPA Aims For National Greenhouse Gas Standards
The Environmental Protection Agency is attempting to establish national standards to reduce greenhouse gases. These changes would take place in 2014 models of tractors, pick up trucks and commercial trucks.
The technology is already available, which makes it easier for trucking companies to budget it in their future expenses. It would be mostly engine and tire adjustments to make the vehicles run smoother, use less gas and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The program will save 500 million barrels of oil in the first five years and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 250 million metric tons.
