Estimates Put 'Roots & Blues' Attendance Up Slightly
COLUMBIA - Festival organizers say initial estimates show a bump in ticket sales this year for the Roots 'N Blues 'N Barbeque Festival in Columbia.
Betsy Farris, president of Thumper Entertainment, estimates that attendance jumped 10 to 15 percent this year.
The festival's founder said ticket sales are up, although he wouldn't comment on how much the festival is generating in revenue.
Organizers expected 75,000 to attend, but won't have final numbers until the end of next week.
Numbers are up despite the $18 price tag for a day-pass, which is up slightly from last year. The festival, now in its fourth year, originally did not charge for admission.
Festival organizers also say great weather contributed to the high attendance.
