Expected Loss in Revenue for Columbia from Removed Red Light Camera
COLUMBIA - In March, Columbia police removed the red light camera situated at the Stadium and Worley intersection. In 2012, the Columbia police sent out 1,064 violations from that traffic light alone, bringing in more than $18,000 for the Columbia general fund from that intersection alone.
The violations from the other cameras are much lower :
- Stadium and Forum : 9
- Providence and Broadway: 46
- Stadium and Providence: 246
In total, the violations from the intersections brought in a net revenue (after expenses to the city) of $23, 343. Each ticket fine costs $120.
