Facebook Page Renews Interest in Old Mo. Murder Case
MARYVILLE (AP) - A 40-year-old northwest Missouri murder case is getting renewed interest after a former classmate of the young victim created a Facebook page dedicated to finding the woman's killer.
Northwest Missouri State University graduate student Teresa Sue Hilt was found brutally murdered in her Maryville apartment in August 1973. She was stabbed multiple times and strangled with a nylon stocking found tied around her neck.
The Maryville Daily Forum reports the case had grown cold before Kansas City resident Michael Holmes created a Facebook page several months ago to keep the search for his old friend alive.
Maryville police detective Ryan Glidden says that page has yielded new information and "re-stimulated" investigative efforts to solve the case.
