CLARK - About 25 family members and friends of the late Jon Spurling gathered for a memorial service at the Chapel Grove Cemetery in Clark Wednesday night.

One year ago Spurling was found fatally shot in his Howard County home. No arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

Friends says they remember Spurling for his kindness.

"He hung out with everybody... helped everybody out," said Bill Spires. "[He was] a great father... he was a wonderful father to his kids."

"He was a very kind person," said Martin Carmichael. "He didn't even know some people that he helped."

Spurling's family and friends say they are currently organizing a memorial concert to honor him.
