Family receives community help after home smashed by tree
RENICK - A family is receiving community help after losing their home in a storm.
We told you about the Damron family about about a week ago when a large tree crushed their mobile home in a storm.
Since then, the family has been moving from motel to motel and gathering the items they can from their damaged home.
"We've been salvaging what we can, like appliances, plates and stuff," Damron said.
Renick Community Church created the "Damron Family Relief Fund" to raise money and collect clothing for the family.
The money raised from the fund is helping the family pay for the motel visits as well as the family's new temporary rental home in Moberly.
Edgar Damron cut the tree down and said he plans on tearing down the entire mobile home.
"Behind the barn and trees back there," Damron said. "More clear from falling things."
He said he plans on building a new home on the same lot within the next year once he can collect more money to do so.
"We still need to find funding for that," Damron said. "Of course I'll be saving myself. Ya know we've got, to do that, but it just isn't enough."
He said there are other places he could go to receive help sooner, but his family doesn't want to leave the community.
