COLUMBIA - The Columbia Police Department said Thursday a woman drove on the wrong side of Highway 63 and collided head-on with another vehicle Wednesday night near the Boone County fairgrounds, injuring a father and his 7-year-old son.

Officers said Kristine Moersch was the driver. They also said they could smell alcohol on her. An officer on the scene preformed a preliminary breath test and Moersch's sample was above the 0.08 legal limit.

The father and son were taken to the hospital and were treated for their injuries.

Moersch was arrested for duty to maintain financial responsibility, endangering the welfare of a child, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and two charges of assault. Columbia Police said the drunk driving accusation falls under one of the assault charges.
