Faurot Field east side expansion reaches completion
COLUMBIA - For more than 88 years, Faurot Field has been the home to many athletes, coaches, families, students, faculty and staff.
Tuesday, the cut of a ribbon symbolized the beginning of something new. Since its opening in 1926, Faurot Field has experienced many upgrades, but the construction of brand new suites, the addition of 4,400 general seats in the upper deck and 1,200 new premium seats has by far made its mark. The project cost $45.5 million and took a little more than two years to complete. The main focus of the project was to enhance the experience and comfortability for the fans.
Missouri Associate Athletic Director Tim Hickman is excited for the expansion.
"It is fun to see transformation and growth that has happened in our program," Hickman said.
Many fans will get to experience this same growth at the season opener against the South Dakota Jack Rabbits. The Missouri Tigers will face the Jack Rabbits for the first time Saturday afternoon at 2:30. It will air on ESPNU.
