SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- The FBI is investigating reports of threats against a biracial Springfield family.
A fire on July 8 damaged the family's home. Assistant Fire Chief Randy Villines says fire marshals have determined the blaze was arson.
On July 13, a 28-year-old man at the home reported damage to his car. The word "die" with a racial epithet was scratched into the side of the car.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the FBI supervisor in Springfield confirmed his office is investigating possible civil rights violations in the case.
