FEMA Releases Money Approved for Joplin
COLUMBIA - After Missouri received a disaster declaration on May 9 for severe weather, FEMA has approved over $17 million for all Missouri applicants for disaster relief.
The city of Joplin, which is located in Southern Jasper County and Northern Newton County, has been the source of most of the relief efforts by FEMA.
According to a FEMA media release, in Jasper County, 7,627 households registered with FEMA. Over $9 million was approved for its applicants.
In Newton County, 370 households registered with FEMA hotline and over $300,000 was approved for its applicants.
Missouri residents who suffered damages since May 9 in the declared counties are eligible to register with FEMA.
