Ferguson authorities say they don't have video of arrest
FERGUSON (AP) - Ferguson police said they do not have police body camera video of the arrest of a protester who claimed she was assaulted by police.
Police contend Heather De Mian struck one of their officers during a protest in February at the police department. She was charged with assault.
Police said in a statement Thursday no video from the protest exists. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports city officials declined to say what happened to the video.
Ferguson police began using the body cameras after the 2014 shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
A Ferguson group has been pushing for a city charter change that would require officers to keep the cameras nearly all the time, and require the department to store the video for at least two years.
