JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri Agriculture director Fred Ferrell is resigning over accusations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination. At Governor Blunt's request, Ferrell stepped down yesterday several days after details of the harassment were made public in court documents. Former employee Heather Elder said Ferrell kissed her, said he would like to see her in a wet T-shirt contest, and refused to promote her. Seven female Democratic lawmakers sent Blunt a letter questioning why Ferrell was allowed to stay on the job as long as he did. The letter accused Blunt of "empowering this sort of predatory sexual behavior" and called on him to publicly explain why Ferrell was not fired in May, when the allegations first emerged. Blunt reinstated Ferrell in May after a two-week paid suspension as the allegations were investigated.
