Fiery Crash Near Jefferson City Temporarily Closes Route 94

CALLAWAY COUNTY - A car crash just northeast of Jefferson City, in front of ABB, temporarily shut down Mo. Rt. 94 Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred around 5:27 p.m. when 28-year-old Katherine O'Neal, of Holts Summit, pulled off Wehmeyer Rd. in her Jeep Grand Cherokee, and onto eastbound Rt. 94 in front of 47-year-old Laura Adamik, of Tebbetts, in a Jeep Wrangler.

The Wrangler hit O'Neal's Grand Cherokee, which caught on fire, trapping O'Neal inside her vehicle.

Bystanders and police officers responding to the call attempted to remove O'Neal and put out the fire, and evetually succeeded after firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames and extricate O'Neal.

O'Neal was transported to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries, while Adamik was transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
