Final Four Set for HAAC Softball Tournament
KANSAS CITY -- The champion of the 2012 Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball Tournament will be decided at the Blue Valley Recreation Complex when the last four teams take part in the championship round on May 4-5 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Central Methodist, Evangel, Baker and MidAmerica Nazarene each won their best-of-three series in the opening round of the tournament this past weekend and advanced to the four-team, double-elimination portion of the event. All four teams will begin play on Friday, May 4 with top-seeded Central Methodist taking on #6-seeded MNU while #2 Evangel and #4 Baker tangle at 3:00 p.m.
The teams will continue play immediately following the first set of games to conclude the first day of play with one squad finishing their postseason run in an elimination game. The loser's bracket will resume on Saturday at noon while the first of two potential championship games is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. If both teams finish that game with one loss, one final winner-take-all game will start at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The winner of the 2012 HAAC Tournament will receive an automatic berth to the 32nd Annual NAIA Softball National Championship, scheduled for May 17-23 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
