COLUMBIA - Fire crews responded to a fire at Church's Chicken on Business Loop 70 around 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Columbia Fire Department told KOMU 8 News the the restaurant's transformer was up in flames when crews arrived at the scene. Nine units were called to extinguish the fire.
The department said the fire caused traffic lights in the nearby area to lose power. Crews de-energized the transformer, removed it, and then replaced it.
The department does not yet know what caused the fire.
KOMU will continue to update the story as information becomes available.
