COLUMBIA — The Boone County and Columbia fire departments responded to a residential fire Monday afternoon on Gateview Drive.

Nobody was injured in the process of the fire, according to Matt Hudson, the Columbia Fire Department's Public Information Officer. The two adults who live in the home were able to get out of the house safely with their dog. The children who reside there were not home at the time of the incident.

Hudson stated that one unit from the Columbia Fire Department and seven or eight Boone County units responded and controlled the fire within 20 minutes.

The family will not be able to stay in their home Monday night.

There is yet to be a set estimate on damages, and cause of the fire is still unknown.
