Fire Causes Estimated $50,000 In Damage to Home

COLUMBIA - Fire officials estimated Thursday a fire at the 1500 block of Typhoon Court caused $50,000 in damage to a residence.
The fire, which occurred just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night, engulfed a landscaping mulch and required crews to tame flames above the living room windows. Authorities said the fire entered the house under the roof and extended through the attic.
They also said the fire started from that landscaping mulch, though officials must now investigate further.
The fire did not result in any injuries.
