Fire Kills 10 in Anderson
The blaze started at 1 a.m., but firefighters were unable to control it until just before sunrise.
Elderly and mentally-ill residents lived in the Anderson Guest House, a privately-run facility.
"There were 33 residents and two caregivers at this facility for a total of 35 people," said Kent Casey of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. "Ten are confirmed dead, 19 were taken to a local hospital and six were treated and released at the scene."
Authorities said they don't know what caused the fire or if it was related to a fire Saturday morning at the facility south of Joplin.
