COLUMBIA - Governor Jay Nixon ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on April 5 at state buildings in Boone County and at corrections facilities across the state.

The flags honor a former Missouri corrections official killed in his Colorado home last month. Tom Clements, 58, worked as a Missouri corrections official for more than three decades before leaving Missouri to take a top Colorado prisons job.

While working in Missouri Clements oversaw all 21 of Missouri's adult correctional facilities. Clements lived in Columbia during his time at the correctional facilities.

U.S. Flags and state of Missouri flags will fly at half-staff Friday until sunset.

Woodcrest Chapel in Columbia plans to hold a memorial for Clements Friday at 4 p.m.
