MACON COUNTY — The Macon County Office of Emergency Management and MoDOT have reported numerous roadway closures due to flooding Thursday evening into Friday morning. Since Wednesday, parts of northwest Missouri, including Macon, have received between 3 and 11 inches of rain.

The closed roads include the following:

  • Macon County - Route DD
  • Macon County - Route HH
  • Macon County - Route PP
  • Macon County - Route Z
  • Macon County - Bus 36
  • Shelby County - Route A
  • Shelby County - MO 151 in various locations
  • Monroe County - Route A
  • Monroe County - Route J

Macon County's Rescue Squad rescued one man early Friday morning that attempted to drive through the water over Business 36. They were able to safely get him and his truck out of the water but crews would like to remind drivers to not drive through flooded roads.

The flood water has a strong current in many locations and can push cars off the road and into ditches. If you do end up encountering high water levels on a roadway, just turn around and find an alternate route.

This story will be updated to include the most recent closures.
