COLUMBIA - Post-season play loomed at the back of coaches' and players' minds Friday night as mid-Missouri football teams took the field. See scores.

Week eight of high school football brings what KOMU 8's Chris Gervino and Kenton Gewecke named the "match-up of the season." The Game of the Week features a mid-Missouri throwdown between the Jefferson City Jays and the Battle Spartans. The Jays held the 2014 state-champion Spartans scoreless until the second half. Jefferson City defeated Battle 44-14.

The California Pintos upset the Osage Indians on the homecoming game 41-24. Four mid-Missouri teams failed to get on the scoreboard Friday night; Warsaw lost to Blair Oaks 57-0, Harrisburg lost to Lincoln 48-0, Paris lost to Marceline 42-0 and Palmyra lost to Brookfield 20-0.

Tweet your game photos next week to @komunews or@komusports. Friday Night Fever is now on Snapchat too. Add KOMU_FNF to follow the action this week between Jefferson City and Battle.
