Former CPD Officer Asks Judge to Review Decision on Job
COLUMBIA - Former Columbia police officer Rob Sanders has filed for judicial review of the city's decision to not give his job back.
A Cole County judge will now have to look at wheather City Manager Mike Matthes made his decision about the reinstament of Sanders to CPD without prejudice.
Sanders told KOMU it could be a year before any decision is made. He has started filling out applications at other law enforcement agencies in the area.
Sanders was fired by CPD chief Ken Burton back in August, 2011 for pushing inmate Kenneth Baker in a holding cell. Sanders was charged with third-degree assault in August, 2012. The city's personnel advisory board took up the case in November, 2013. Matthes ruled in December 2013 Sanders would not get his job back.
