Former CPD Officer On Trial Thursday

COLUMBIA - Former Columbia police officer Robert Sanders will go to trial Thursday afternoon at 1:30.

Sanders faces charges of third-degree assault against a suspect being held in custody. Police Chief Ken Burton fired Sanders last September.

There's video of the incident, but Sanders maintains he was actually helping the beaten subject, not hurting him.
