Former Deputy Pleads Guilty
CAPE GIRARDEAU - A former southeast Missouri deputy faces sentencing in July after pleading guilty to federal gun charges.
The Southeast Missourian reports that 24-year-old Steffanie Kearbey pleaded guilty Monday to possession and sale of stolen firearms during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau.
Kearbey is the former chief deputy in Carter County. Her former boss, former Carter County Sheriff Tommy Adams, pleaded guilty to similar federal charges last week and also faces sentencing in July.
Adams is also facing state methamphetamine and cocaine charges following his arrest last April. Both Adams and Kearbey resigned in April 2011 after their arrests.
