JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri State Board of Education has revoked Christopher Knehans' teaching certificate.
The board voted Tuesday 8-0 in favor of accepting a recommendation to withdraw the former band teacher's license, according to the board's communications coordinator. Knehans held a license to teach instrumental music to grades kindergarten through 12.
The 39-year-old formerly taught at Jefferson City High School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School. He spent six months on paid leave and resigned on March 28.
Knehans is charged with two counts of sexual contact with a female student at the high school.
He is scheduled to face a Cole County grand jury on Sept. 25.
