Former Jefferson City Coach Facing Child Sex Crime Charges
CALLAWAY - A former school football coach was charged last week with three counts of sex crimes against a child.
Michael Washington was charged with two counts of enticement of a child and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Washington worked for Jefferson City Schools from August 2009 to 2013 according to district spokesperson, Amy Berendzen. His contract was not renewed for the past school year.
The warrant for Washington's arrest was issued this past April. His bond was set at $40,000.
This past fall, Westminster College temporarily hired 42-year-old Washington as a football coach. Spokesperson Rob Crouse said he only received two paychecks from the school.
Washington's lawyer declined to comment on the case and would not let KOMU speak with his client.
Washington is scheduled to appear in court on August 4th.
