Former Missouri football player cited for marijuana possession
COOPER COUNTY - Early Monday morning, Missouri State Highway Patrol pulled over 21-year-old Shane Ray in Cooper County. Ray is a former Missouri football player and is expected to be drafted on Thursday.
MSHP said the trooper pulled him over for speeding and illegally driving in the left lane. When the trooper went to the window, MSHP said he smelled marijuana inside the car. The trooper searched the car and found marijuana in a "compartment."
Ray was cited for possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana. MSHP said Ray was not impaired and cooperated with the officer.
Cooper County confirmed Ray was ticketed, released and never booked into the jail. Ray is scheduled to appear in Cooper County court on Tuesday, June 30.
Ray was previously ticketed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol for going 26 miles or more over the speed limit in Cooper County on Monday, May 26, 2014.
