SALINE COUNTY - Former Slater Fire Chief Levi Dennis pleaded guilty to three counts of child sex crimes in Saline County Circuit Court Monday.

Dennis pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, invasion of privacy and sexual exploitation of a child. Dennis was sentenced to 13 years in prison by Judge Dennis Rolf.

According to a probable cause statement released in September 2015, Dennis took pornographic photos of two children and molested one of them over a two-year period between 2011 and 2013. The victim, identified in the statement as L.S., told police Dennis took pornographic photos of her and molested her when she was between the ages of nine and 13.

Slater City administrator Russell Griffith said Dennis will be replaced permanently within the next 24 hours, and acting Chief Todd Jenkins will take over as fire chief.
