COLUMBIA - Columbia/Boone County Health and Human Services is offering free flu vaccinations to children beginning Monday September 30.
The vaccinations are available free of charge to anyone under the age of 18.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends children begin to get the flu vaccination at six months old.
Andrea Waner of the health department said everyone doing their part to get a flu shot helps the community stay healthier.
"It really depends on you and it depends on me," Waner said. "Your flu shot not only impacts you and your health but also the community that surrounds you."
Waner recommends everyone get vaccinated, but she especially recommends it to those most susceptible to the flu - the very young and the elderly.
The vaccinations are available at 1005 W. Worley St. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You do not need to have an appointment.
Adults can also receive vaccinations for $25.
