MARIES COUNTY - A Texas County jury found Terry Fritz guilty Friday for the 2010 killing of Kinga Gillibrand, according to the Maries County Sheriff's Department.
According to a KOMU 8 News report from November 2010, a hunter found the remains of Gillibrand in Meta, several months after her disappearance. Gillibrand was the girlfriend Fritz and mother of his son. The Jefferson City man found Gillibrand's body wrapped in a blanket near her home. Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman told KOMU 8 in 2010 Gillibrand was pregnant when she was shot to death. Heitman said Gillibrand was likely killed in June of that year.
Prosecutors charged Gillibrand's boyfriend Terry Fritz in 2010. Nearly four years later a jury found him guilty of first degree murder and armed criminal action.
"This has been a lengthy and expensive investigation," Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said. "I am glad justice was served and the victim's family can get some closure."
He commended the prosecutors for their hard work.
The trial began Monday and a decision was reached around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
