Fulton man arrested after sending inappropriate Facebook messages
COLUMBIA — A Fulton man was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending sexually suggestive Facebook messages to an underage girl.
19-year-old Michael Collins was arrested after a months-long investigation by the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
In January, a Boone County parent contacted the department with concerns their 14-year-old daughter received inappropriate Facebook messages from an adult man.
The department's Cyber Crimes Task Force led the investigation. After obtaining records from Facebook, the task force was able to determine Collins sent the girl a video and several pictures of his genitalia.
Collins was arrested and transported to the Boone County Jail. According to officials at the jail, he has since been released.
