Fulton Police Rescue Three on Flooded Road
FULTON - With heavy rainfall often comes flooded roads. This comes as a lesson well-learned from three people and their dog when their vehicle became stuck in a flooded road in Fulton Wednesday.
With the car stuck in the road, the water continued to rise around it until finally it started slowly drifting downstream, reports Officer Brandon Morrison.
A 911 operator worked with the driver's daughter because her mom was unable to speak clearly. The little girl explained the situation and stayed on the line while emergency crews got to the scene.
Officer Morrison was dispatched to the scene where he quickly noticed that if the vehicle floated much further downstream, there was a very real possibility the car may flip. Morrison borrowed a rope from the fire department, who was also on the scene, and quickly entered the water and hooked the car with fellow officer Sgt. Ladwig.
Once the car was hooked, it was safely towed from the water. The Fulton Police Station reports these efforts might have saved their lives.
