Fulton Woman Gives Birth to 11/11/11 Baby
FULTON- Lucy Dixon and her partner of seven years, Joseph Click didn't expect Friday would be so special.
"We knew we would be having a son on Veterans Day, we talked about it on our way over here," Dixon said.
But what they didn't know is that their son, Gunnar Mitchell Click, would also be born on 11/11/11. They were the only couple to welcome a child today in Fulton, but they certainly weren't alone. Hospitals across the country reported that they had a high number of C-Sections scheduled for today.
Weddings were also popular Friday. Weddingchannel.com estimates that 24,900 couples tied the knot on 11/11/11. On average, there are only 1,700 weddings on Fridays in November. Clark County in Nevada issued 3,200 marriage licenses that were picked up the day before.
Dixon and Click are excited about their son's special birthday. Click says they'll wait until he's older to tell him about the meaning of his birth date.
"I don't think he'll really understand or care until he's older," said Click.
Officials at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia said there were seven births Friday morning, and they expected the total to be nine before midnight.
