Generator at Callaway Nuclear Power Plant Declared Nonfunctional

ST. LOUIS - A backup diesel generator at the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant was declared nonfunctional on Monday, March 19. The generator serves the Technical Support Center, which is used as a "situation room" as a contact center between local, state and federal officials in emergency situations.
"The unavailability of the backup generator would impair or complicate response to an emergency if one occured," David Lochbaum of the Union of Concerned Scientists said.
