Girl Brings Pellet Gun to School
JEFFERSON CITY - A fifth grade girl is facing a ten day suspension after school officials say she brought a gun to school on Friday. Officials say, this comes after the same Pioneer Trail Elementary student made threats to other students just one day before.
Jefferson City School District Spokesperson David Luther said another student told his parents about the threats on Thursday and the next morning that parent called the school to inform the office about what happened. The student was sent to the office where teachers searched her bag and they found the pellet gun. Administrative officials sent a letter home Monday afternoon informing parents about what happened on Friday.
The superintendent will review the situation and it could lead up to another 180 days of suspension. Officials say the school plans on having a DARE officer come to speak with the kids.
